Kawabata Makoto is the founder and lead guitarist of the legendary and long-running psych-rock collective ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE, currently touring with Tatsuya Nakatani, a unique percussionist and sound sculptor originally hailing from Osaka, Japan. The two are touring across the U.S, bringing their unique brand of experimental Japanese noise rock. SPIRES THAT IN THE SUNSET RISE feature a harmonium, guitar, slide, banjo, bowed psaltery, cello, flute, autoharp, spike fiddle and mbira while toying with folk traditions but never fully embracing its stylings. Opening the evening is BRIAN CASE, who you may currently know as the leader of Chicago favorites DISAPPEARS of Disappears, or previously of THE PONYS and 90 DAY MEN. Tonight, Mr. Case brings his stark, minimal electronic and abstract sounds to our stage as a solo performer.
