3-On-3 is a monthly meeting space for audience members and practitioners interested in actively engaging with the inner-workings of improvised performance in the broadest sense.
Each month 3 different artists are invited to present a mini set of a mixed line up of improvisers. Lineups can be as small as a trio or as large as a sextet, with a focus on dance, live electronics and/or acoustic music.
3-On-3’s programming model promotes a zero approach: No solo, duo or regular groups. No pre-set rehearsals. No comfort zone.

Abundance is the name of this improvised performance piece. I chose the selected improvisers based on their experience in movement-based practices with ritual, community, and healing. Jennifer Ligaya is a great sound and movement artist who focuses on indigenous healing practices and rituals. Xris Copal is an amazing musician with the Participatory Music Coalition, bringing community together through music, spirituality, and ceremony. Haydée Souffrant is a healer and movement artist that focuses on empowering communities of color through healing justice. During a time of extreme violence in Chicago, the U.S., and the world at large in the form of war, police brutality, and violence against black bodies and racialized communities of color, this performance seeks to embody ritual practices that call upon abundance to strengthen our collective and individual spirits, psyches, and bodies.
