The Lulabelles

February 5, 2016 @ 9:00 pm - 11:55 pm

Hailing from Chicago, IL, The Lulabelles are an indie folk/pop band featuring lush vocal harmonies and powerful instrumental arrangements. They draw from such influences as Dawes, The Civil Wars and The Decemberists, and their song Between The Cracks was a grand prize winner in the 2015 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Sean Magwire (vocals, guitar) traveled across the United States singing and writing songs before settling down in the Windy City, and in 2013 he started playing with Nate Wilson (mandolin, fiddle) and Rudy Bless (bass). They named themselves The Lulabelles, which was Sean’s wife’s childhood nickname. In 2014 husband-and-wife Mike Weber (vocals, drums, accordion) and Jenni Weber (vocals, piano) joined the group and they recorded their debut EP “Stories”, which was released March of 2015 to critical acclaim. Hear & Now Media wrote “The more I hear it, the more I love it. Multi-vocalist folk bands are my jam, and The Lulabelles do not fall short in that category” and Impulcity wrote “The Lulabelles are already ahead of the game as one of the best live acoustic folk acts you’re going to see. Featuring a powerful violinist and moving harmonies, you’re guaranteed to get chills at least once every time you check them out.”
