Autotelic Series: Ryan Packard

Chicago based percussionist, improviser, and composer Ryan Packard is an avid performer of contemporary and experimental music. As a percussionist, Ryan has worked closely with composers Julio Estrada, James Dillon, Vinko Globokar, Tristan Perich, David Lang, Josh Levine, and Lewis Nielson. He is currently a member of the Fonema Consort (Chicago), and was a founding member of Architek Percussion (Montréal). He has worked and collaborated with Eighth Blackbird, Ensemble Dal Niente, Fifth House Ensemble, MOCREP, A.pe.ri.od.ic, and The Fulton Street Dance Collective. As a composer, Ryan’s works have been performed by the Bodø sinfonietta, Fonema Consort, The Morton Feldman Chamber Players, AndPlay Duo, The Wiseacre String Quartet, and others. Other projects include a close collaboration with guitarist, Daniel Wyche; writing for the experimental R&B group, :)))); and creating performative sound installations with Gentle Speed (Jessie Winslow).
