The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is please to announce the city’s favorite Labor Day Weekend tradition, the 38th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival.

While celebrating the rich history of jazz, today’s incredible jazz musicians will also be bring something new the genre’s future. This Festival has more meaning than just hearing great music, this year marks the Centennial of the Great Migration, the mass movement of more than 6 million African- Americans from the rural south to the urban Midwest beginning in 1916. Chicago was the key destination for that transformative relocation bring the development of jazz from New Orleans into an industry in Chicago.

Come out and celebrate jazz in the city that has helped make music history!
