Haptic (Steven Hess, Joseph Clayton Mills, Adam Sonderberg) joined by Tim Daisy, Morgan Evans-Weiler, Jason Stein, and Michael Vallera
Haptic explores the intersection between composition and improvisation in concerts, installations, and recordings. Originally conceived as a vehicle for live collaboration, their performances often cross traditional boundaries between between music, sound, literature, and visual art. Tonight the trio expand to a septet, joined by special guests Tim Daisy, Morgan Evans-Weiler, Jason Stein, and Michael Vallera.
Morgan Evans-Weiler is a Boston-based composer, violinist, artist and educator who works primarily with attention, listening, social structures and minimal materials. His compositions examine slow processes of subtle listening and engagement and attempt to absorb performers and listeners in social and relational processes that alter our aural and communal perception. Morgan will perform a new modular composition for solo violin ‘General Motions in Relation’; the piece examines microtonal pitch relationships in their infinite potential, shading and possibility.
