Heart, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts & Cheap Trick

July 19, 2016 @ 6:30 pm

It’s a triple whammy of awesome as Heart, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts & Cheap Trick come to Firstmerit Bank Pavilion on Tuesday 19th July! Three seminal rock bands join together for one night of epic music on the Rock Hall: Three For All tour! Renowned for their chart-topping tunes, all three bands have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and this show will see them on stage once more, doing what they do best!

American rock band Heart formed in 1973 and rose to fame in the mid-1970s, later returning to even greater popularity in 1985, due to a departure from their folky rock towards AOR and power ballads. Heart has sold over 35 million records worldwide to date, including over 22.5 million in album sales in the U.S., and the group was ranked number 57 on VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”. They have seen top 10 albums on the Billboard Album Chart in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2010s, making them one of the most longstanding and successful hard rock bands in history.

Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin) is best known for her work with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. She started her musical career as a founding member of the Runaways, taking over as frontwoman for their latter two LPs Waitin’ for the Night and And Now… The Runaways, after former lead singer Cherrie Currie left the band. When The Runaways split in 1979, Jett moved on to Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, whose record “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”, was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in a row and is Billboard’s No. 56 song of all time. Jett has released two solo studio albums and ten studio albums with the Blackhearts.

Cheap Trick are an American rock band that formed in Rockford, Illinois in 1974. The band recorded their first official demo in 1975, and in 1976 were signed to Epic Records. Their eponymous debut album was released one year later to critical acclaim, although it did not match that success commercially. All three of Cheap Tricks first albums became gold records in Japan, and when they arrived to tour the country for the first time in 1978, they were greeted with a hysteria similar to Beatlemania. Their live album recorded on the tour, Cheap Trick at Budokan, launched the band into international stardom, and the LP went triple platinum in the United States. The band has been ranked No.25 in VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
