Superstar pianist Jenny Lin and composer, pianist and radio host Seth Boustead share the stage for an evening of virtuosic new works for solo piano, followed by a set of music inspired by Barcelona architecture, photographs by Diane Arbus and a sneak peak of April’s Sound of Silent Film Festival, featuring newly composed scores performed live to modern silent films.
Admired for her adventurous programming and charismatic stage presence, pianist Jenny has performed acclaimed programs in the world’s top venues including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Kennedy Center, MoMA, Whitney Museum, (Le) Poisson Rouge and throughout Europe and the Far East. She’ll play a program of virtuosic works by Seth Boustead, Stephan Moore and Frank Martin.
Seth Boustead is a composer and pianist who is also active as a composer advocate. He hosts the country’s only weekly syndicated contemporary music radio program Relevant Tones, is the founder and Executive Director of Access Contemporary Music, is co-chair of the Program Council for New Music USA, writes for the Newmusicbox, Newcity Magazine and his own blog and was at one time a quasi-fearsome pool shark. On March 9 the Chicago Composer’s Orchestra will give the World Premiere of Seth’s new piano concerto Satori, with Marta Aznavoorian as soloist.
