House of Blues
19 Nov 2015
One of more than a dozen locations across America, House of Blues Chicago has booked big-name rock, metal, blues, and hip-hop bands in its 1300-capacity venue since 1996. Getting there by transit is the way to go, as it’s located in River North just off the Chicago River, inside the stunning Marina City condo complex. Parking is possible but pricy.
With its folk art and Southern-inspired aesthetic and cuisine, House of Blues is one of the most flavorful midsize venues in the city. Down to the tiniest details, it’s strongly influenced by blues art and culture (co-star John—were co-financiers), so be sure to take it all in if you’ve never been. There’s quality sound throughout, but if you have the loot to swing it, try to nab a private opera box. The sound might be a little worse up there, but the experience is well worth it—great sightlines, no moshing, and personal booze service.
