Lawrence A. Johnson was a regular freelance music critic for the Chicago Tribune in the 1990s; he now serves as a music critic for Chicago Classical Review and is a regular contributor to Gramophone and Opera and has written for The New York Times, the Boston Globe, Opera News and The New Criterion.
